Why Costa Rica?

​We are compelled by the love of Christ to take the gospel of grace to the southwest region of Costa Rica to a small community called Hatillo.

Although most Americans know Costa Rica for their relaxing beaches, world class surf, beautiful rainforests, and tourist spots, not many are aware of the small communities like Hatillo. Hatillo is home to beautiful beaches and magnificent rainforests, without all of the busyness of tourism. It is truly a small quaint village filled with wonderful people.

Hatillo is not exempt, however, from many social and economic issues that plague the country. Many people in this region are struggling to survive. Some of the most common struggles are poverty, substance abuse, and sexual abuse. We intend to connect with the Hatillo community by meeting physical, relational, and spiritual needs. We can meet physical needs through feeding programs, providing clean safe drinking water, renovating local medical clinics, churches and common kitchens, and assisting the elderly in the community with daily needs. We have learned, through Juan and Kimberly that this region has a deep need for the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, many churches and ministries are teaching a self-righteous works-based gospel that offers no grace.

Meet Juan, his wife Kimberly, and their children Aiko and Falon. They lead the mission project in Hatillo, and work endlessly to make sure people are fed the true Gospel.

Juan’s biggest challenge has been getting people to understand and accept grace. His greatest passion is to see people, specifically in Hatillo, then Costa Rica, and ultimately the world come to know the miracle of being born again in Jesus Christ.
